A Doula’s Journey 2017

Sunday 24 December 2017

Thank you from this Doula – 2017 has been an incredible ride.

I began 2017 intending to take a break – being on call 24/7 for up to 5 weeks at a time is an intense commitment, it is hard on you, on your family and also on your extended network, after all you need childcare, back up childcare and back up for your back up.

I have to mainly thank my mother, my husband and my dear friend Abbie Hope

9 Years Married - Our Journey To The Dark Side and Back Again

Friday 3 November 2017

People look at me now and can never believe I have been in dark places, that I suffered from depression and anxiety, that there were 6 months I couldn't leave the house without my husband by my side. But there were and I see it in my Facebook statuses. I want to share to let everyone know - there is light at the end of the tunnel.

There is a part of my heart that is permanently scarred - that is the wound that lets light in.

Why Do You Want Your Baby To Die? Coercive Language And Induction Experiences

Monday 16 October 2017

After reading a story online and some of the events I have heard about and witnessed, I put out a request for experiences around coercion and intervention relating to sweeps and induction and whether other options had been offered. My heart hurts and this post definitely needs a trigger warning.

Some of these stories are more recent than others, all these women still remember their births in detail - and I know that all of this still happens.

Thank you for opening your hearts and sharing your experiences.

The Lady of The Land

Monday 12 June 2017

I often go to Drum Circles in South Wales and all over the country as well as other retreats and workshops, there is usually someone running things, but in the background there is often someone who works the sacred land on which we stand and whose hard work is often missed.

Unless you have been involved in the setting up of an event it can be hard to realise how much work goes into making it happen, not just by the event organisers, but by those who look after the venue 24/7 365 days a year and create beautiful and sacred spaces.
